Dexter, the owner of AAA Backyard Farm

From Seafarer to Backyard Farmer

Dexter spent more than two decades working at sea. After years in the orange boiler suit, he decided it was time to build something closer to home.

He started with only a few day-old chicks. He raised them by hand until they became hens and roosters. Soon, they began producing eggs, fertile eggs, and new chicks.

What started as a hobby slowly became AAA Backyard Farm. Local buyers began asking for chicks, eggs, and practical advice. Today, Dexter is growing the farm with a bigger goal: produce quality birds, develop his own feeds, and help more backyard raisers learn the right way to start.

Buying Your First Chicks?

We want your new flock to thrive. Here is some basic guidance.

Prepare Heat

Day-old chicks need warmth. Prepare a brooder with a heat lamp or bulb before pickup. It's the most important first step.

Clean Water

Always have clean, fresh drinking water available. Chick drinkers are cheap and prevent droppings from fouling the water.

Starter Feed

Use a quality chick starter feed for the first few weeks. It has the right protein and nutrients for healthy growth.

Ask Before Pickup

Message Dexter to confirm your pickup schedule. This ensures your chicks are ready and helps you prepare properly.
